Jan 8th and 9th

This weekend saw 12 teams compete in the 2016 FLOW Mixed 9s Championship. Growing from previous years, this event took place over 2 days at the Cayman Islands International School. Seasoned players and novices played alongside each other, through group and knockout stages where eventually Team Harmonic came out champions, after narrowly losing out for so many years before. They took home the Pete O'Neill trophy, beating team FLOW in a madly entertaining final. Flow battled through to the final after a few narrow defeats in the early stages, to have to play the semi-final and final back to back, no easy feat on a scorching Saturday afternoon. Harmonic had some scores to settle from previous years, and held nothing back, eventually beating Flow by 14pts to 8pts. The weekend witnessed grueling and closely fought matches where the spectators were treated to amazing things to come for the coming Gaelic Football season, starting later this month which runs until the finals day in June. Ladies and men who never played the sport before showed potential to shake things up in this year's league, which is shaping up to be the biggest year yet, expanding from 8 to 12 teams, to accommodate the overwhelming interest, growing every year.
